SHARON, FARRELL

Weed and Seed patrols report 2 'quiet' months

Sharon/Farrell Weed and Seed police patrols continually reported "no traffic" and "quiet night" in April, said Assistant District Attorney Robert G. Kochems, law enforcement coordinator.

Police worked 208 hours and stopped 31 vehicles for traffic violations.

Six citations were issued during those stops, including three for driving with a suspended license, and one warrant was served.

Sixteen other warrants also were served by the special patrols.

Police made 43 citizen contacts, which included foot patrols, bar walk-throughs and attempts to serve warrants.

Five citations were issued for nontraffic and juvenile-related violations, including two for public drunkenness.

In March, patrols worked 440 hours and made 42 traffic stops, which resulted in eight warrant arrests and 11 more serious charges, including driving under suspension and driving without a license.

Police also made one arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia, five for public drunkenness and two on warrants.

The patrols netted a report of a building fire and 44 citizen contacts.

The patrols conducted two intelligence follow-up operations that resulted in two warrant arrests, one of them for attempted homicide, and three arrests for delivery of cocaine.

Kochems said no citizen complaints were reported in March or April.
