State parole officers found more than 100 marijuana plants growing in a hidden room in a West Salem Township home Wednesday, and police arrested the man with the green thumb, according to Greenville-West Salem Township Acting Police Chief Sgt. Tom Strahler.
James Burnett, 26, of 260 N. Good Hope Road, was to be arraigned this morning by District Justice William H. Fagley, Greenville, on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacturing a controlled substance, Strahler said.
Burnett then will be taken to Mercer County Jail on a detainer for violating parole, Strahler said.
Strahler said state Probation and Parole officers called police after finding the plants growing under lamps in an aluminum-foil lined closet that had been paneled over in Burnett's home.
The plants were not full-grown, standing between a couple inches and 3 feet tall, Strahler said.
Strahler said there were about 120 plants and if all matured, they could yield more than 100 pounds of pot and sell illegally for about $10,000.
Strahler said Burnett may have been selling the plants -- not growing them for the cut and dried pot.
