The mother of an Adamsville girl who fell 14 feet to her death two years ago at Greenville Memorial Swimming Pool is taking civil action against six parties linked to the pool at the time of her daughter's fall and death.

Erin Scullin, then a 17-year-old employee of Greenville Area Leisure Services Association, died May 30, 2000, from injuries suffered in a fall into the empty swimming pool three days earlier.

Sharon lawyer Henry Sewinsky filed a "writ of summons" on behalf of Marguerite Scullin -- Erin's mother, as well as the administrator of her estate -- Friday afternoon at the Mercer County Prothonotary's Office.

A writ of summons is an official notice that civil action is being taken. A formal complaint will be filed at a later date.

The suit was filed against the Borough of Greenville, Greenville Area Leisure Services Association, GALSA pool, Greenville Memorial Swimming Pool, Greenville Area School District and Howard McClimans, a GALSA employee who was supervising at the pool at the time of the death.

Erin had apparently been cleaning a diving board when it broke. She and a board were found at the bottom of the deep end of the pool.

Erin was working with other GALSA employees to prepare the pool for its opening. The employees were spread out so there were not any witnesses to the fall, officials said at the time.
