GROVE CITY

Teens cited for painting town red, green, yellow

Four teens have been charged with criminal mischief after allegedly shooting paint at the Grove City police and fire stations and parked vehicles, and police are investigating similiar incidents outside the borough.

On the night of May 2, the teens shot yellow, red and green paintballs at the stations, police cruisers and vehicles parked nearby as well as a parked vehicle on Madison Avenue, police said.

Jerett Buchanan, 19, of 89 George Junior Road, Pine Township, was charged with two counts of criminal mischief and one count of illegally carrying a paintball gun in a vehicle; Phillip Brinker, 18, of 234 Amsterdam Road, Liberty Township, and a 17-year-old Grove City boy were charged with criminal mischief and illegally carrying a paintball gun in a vehicle. Another 17-year-old Grove City boy was charged with criminal mischief.

Charges were filed May 22 at District Justice Lawrence Silvis' office in Worth Township. The 17-year-olds were petitioned to juvenile court. Since these are summary offenses, the teens have 10 days to file a plea before a hearing date can be set.

A sport utility vehicle parked at United Community Hospital, Pine Township, had a tail light shot out with a green paintball between 6:45 p.m. May 2 and 7:15 a.m. May 3, state police said.

Sandy Lake police are investigating a similar incident that occurred around the same time, when a vehicle drove down the main street of the borough and shot red and green paint balls at the Sandy Lake municipal building and Mercer County State Bank, said Sandy Lake Police Chief Don Oakes.
