FARRELL

Woman bit off finger tip during fight, police say

A Farrell woman was taken to Mercer County Jail this morning after her arraignment on charges of biting off the tip of another woman's finger during a fight.

Marcia Gregory, 34, of 937 Hamilton Ave., was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at a house in the 900 block of Spearman Avenue, Farrell, on a Southwest warrant charging her with aggravated and simple assault and reckless endangerment, police said.

Ms. Gregory got into a fight with Francine Moore at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at 523 Fruit Avenue, Farrell, police said.

Police gave this account:

Ms. Moore's boyfriend tried to separate the pair and held Ms. Moore to the floor. Ms. Gregory attempted to punch Ms. Moore in the head. When Ms. Moore blocked the punch, Ms. Gregory bit Ms. Moore's left index finger, amputating the tip and a portion of bone.

Ms. Gregory also hit Ms. Moore in the head with a large glass ash tray.

Ms. Moore was listed in stable condition this morning at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.

Ms. Gregory was arraigned this morning before District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage.

She was taken to Mercer County Jail on $5,000 bond and a parole detainer, which prevents her from posting bond.

Ms. Gregory's preliminary hearing was set for 3:30 p.m. June 7.
