A body found in a car wash last month has been identified as an Ohio man reported missing more than two weeks ago and a man last seen driving his minivan has committed suicide.
State police identified the body as that of James P. Silver, 56, of Jefferson, Ohio. Police are investigating the death as a homicide. Silver was strangled, according to an autopsy.
Silver's body was found May 12 in a self-serve car wash near Harmony, Butler County. His ex-wife, Betty Silver, reported him missing May 16.
Police say Edward Kerr, 37, of McKeesport, was last seen in Silver's 1989 Dodge Caravan. Kerr was seen driving the van around the Pittsburgh area and it was found within a block of UPMC McKeesport Hospital.
Kerr checked himself in to the hospital on May 14 and hanged himself with a bed sheet on May 25, according to the Allegheny County Coroner's Office. Police have not identified a suspect.
