Celebrity Series slated

Westminster College has announced the Celebrity Series schedule for 2002-2003.

Series Director Eugene DeCaprio said he is excited to bring this kind of entertainment into the community and feels that the college's Sesquicentennial season offers more familiar top performers than any in recent years.

Timeless favorite The 5th Dimension will open the season on Sept. 28.

Booked more than 2 1/2 years ago, the Georgian State Dance Company is the largest Russian folk dancing company in the world with more than 100 performers.

DeCaprio said it is a spectacular energetic show. The company tours the United States only two months each year.

DeCaprio said he is also pleased to include family entertainment as part of the special series this year.

Tom Chapin is a leading family entertainer, and many followers of Christian music will also recognize the talents of Sandy Patti and Larnelle Harris.

The college would like to continue offering family entertainment, perhaps expanding into a series of family shows.

The star-studded schedule is: Sept. 28, The 5th Dimension; Oct. 4, South Pacific; Oct. 9, Sandy Patti with special guest Larnelle Harris (not included with season tickets); Oct. 29, Anne Murray; Nov. 8, The Georgian State Dance Company; Nov. 9, Tom Chapin (not included with season tickets); Dec. 10, Glenn Campbell Christmas Show; Feb. 7, Youngstown Symphony Orchestra; and April 5, Roger Williams.
