MEADVILLE

Local animal shelter part of DAD's Adopt-A-Pet weekend

Pet Solutions in Mercer will be one of more than 100 shelters in eight states to participate in DAD's Pet Care Adopt-A-Pet Weekend June 14 to 16 -- Father's Day weekend.

The program, now in its third year, has matched more than 1,400 pets with new owners throughout Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The shelters track the names of individuals who adopt a dog or cat during the event, and DAD's will mail each new own a pet care brochure and coupons for two large bags of dog or cat food -- about a three month supply.

The program is part of DAD's "Have a Heart" initiative for homeless animals, which involves recruiting animal shelters and encouraging them to take part in the three-day adoption drive.

DAD's Pet Care, Inc., has been owned and operated by the Lang family in Meadville since 1933. Its line of dog and cat food is distributed in more than 45 markets in the United States.

Pet Solutions can be reached at (724) 662-4485.
