Transfer woman hurt after swerving to avoid golf cartA Transfer woman was injured Friday when she swerved to avoid a golfer who drove a cart across state Route 18 from Tam O' Shanter Golf Course to its driving range, police said.
Florence Scott, 83, of Sunnyview Park, lost control of her car when she saw John J. Songer, 75, of 3565 Sharon Road, West Middlesex, crossing the highway in a golf cart at 11 a.m., police said.
Ms. Scott's car swerved to avoid the cart, jumped a curb and then was hit on the left side by the cart Songer was driving, police said.
Police said Ms. Scott was taken by ambulance to the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System where she was treated for moderate injuries.
