In an effort to raise $10,000 for an outreach program to Mexico and Africa, Chaplain Dan Cesene of Faith Assembly of God, Brookfield, will be taken into custody at 8 a.m. Thursday and will remain under arrest until 8 a.m. Sunday or his "bail" is posted.
The money will go to the church's Outreach Program, through which Cesene hopes to travel to Mexico and Africa. There he will work with governmental officials and other clergy to help the disadvantaged.
Cesene will be imprisoned on the roof of the Brookfield Township Administration Building. During his "incarceration," refreshments, give-aways and prizes will be available there.
Also, the Youngstown State University Ministries will be holding a free car wash from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday at the township building.
Cesene will remain locked up, rain or shine, receiving only rations of bread and water.
There will be no breaks for Cesene during his incarceration. If "the need arise," a port-a-potty will be provided in his jail cell, he said.
Those who can't make it to the event, but would still like to help the program and contribute to the bail, can make donations by calling the Brookfield Police Department at (330) 448-6960 or the Brookfield Fire Office at (724) 346-5060 or by mailing tax-deductible gifts directly to: Brookfield Police Department, c/o Chaplain Dan Cesene, 6844 Strimbu Drive, Brookfield, OH 44403.
