Arson-related charges waived to court

All charges against a South Pymatuning man accused of arson were waived to Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

James K. Lundquest, 19, of 274 Buckeye Drive, appeared Thursday before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon, on five counts each of criminal attempt at homicide and recklessly endangering another person and charges of arson and terroristic threats.

The charges were waived without testimony.

On June 5, Lundquest had an argument with someone at the home of his brother, Steve Yanak, 1263 Heinz Ave., Sharon, police said. Lundquest threatened to burn down the house but no one took him seriously and he left the house, spread gasoline on the south and east walls and lit it, police said.

There were five people home at the time, police said.

Someone came out of the house, saw Lundquest and chased him, but he got away, police said. Yanak put of the flames before Sharon firefighters arrived, fire officials said.

Police caught up with Lundquest a short time later when he tied to check himself into the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.

Lundquest is free on $20,000 bond.
