All charges against a Farrell woman accused of biting off the tip of a Sharon woman's finger during an argument were waived to court Friday without testimony.
Assistant Public Defender Dana Flick acknowledged that there was a prima-facie case against his client, Marcia M. Gregory, 34, of 937 Hamilton Ave., during hearing before District Justice Henry Russo.
Ms. Gregory will face charges of aggravated and simple assault and reckless endangerment in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
A prima-facie case means the evidence is enough to show that a crime was committed and the defendant may have been involved.
Ms. Gregory got into a fight with the boyfriend of Francine Moore, 45, of 362 Malleable St., Sharon, on May 29 at 523 Fruit Ave., Farrell, police said.
When Ms. Moore joined in, Ms. Gregory threw a punch and Ms. Moore threw her to the floor, police said.
During the fight, Ms. Gregory bit off the tip of Ms. Moore's finger up to the first knuckle, including a portion of bone, police said.
Ms. Gregory was arrested and held on $500 bond and a parole detainer. Ms. Gregory, who was on parole, was sentenced to jail by Judge Thomas Dobson, Flick said.
Ms. Moore and members of Ms. Gregory's family were instructed not to have contact with each other during Friday's hearing to avoid more trouble. Ms. Moore sat outside the courtroom during the proceedings.
