George 'G.G.' Gula
George "G.G." Gula, 662 Sherman Ave., Sharon, and current resident of John XXIII Home, Hermitage, died Saturday (6-15-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 89.

John G. Rogan
Former Sharon man was Sharon Steel retiree
INDIATLANTIC, Fla. -- John G. Rogan, Indiatlantic, but formerly of Sharon, died of natural causes at 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2002, in his residence after an extended illness. He was 91.
He was the widower of Edna Irene Hunter Rogan.
Born in Brookville, Pa., on Monday, Oct. 10, 1910, Mr. Rogan was a son of the late James and Irene Dixon Rogan.
He had worked as a machinist at the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, from which he retired after 35 years of service.
Mr. Rogan was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon, and while living in Indiatlantic, belonged to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
He was an honorary member of Local 1197 of the United Steelworkers union.
Mr. Rogan was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, who loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by: a daughter, Bertie, wife of John Vasconi, Cary, N.C.; a daughter, Maggie, wife of Jay Post, Indiatlantic; a son, George, husband of Shirley Rogan, New Kensington, Pa.; and a sister, Margaret Hetra, Sharon. Mr. Rogan is also survived by seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and his parents, Mr. Rogan was preceded in death by seven brothers, Vincent, Edward, Burdette, Paul, Thomas, James and an infant, George Rogan.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School, 3060 N. Highway A 1 A, Indiatlantic, Fla. 32903.

Jack E. Nickols
Clark man was GATX retiree, founding member of VFW
Jack E. Nickols, 68 Milton St., Clark, died peacefully at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, in his residence. He was 76.
Mr. Nickols was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Follansbee, W.Va., to Louis E. Nickols and Emma L. Waldren Nickols.
He retired in 1983 after 35 years of employment with General American Transportation Corp.'s former Masury plant, where he worked as a shearman.
A Navy veteran, Mr. Nickols served during World War II.
He was a member of Clark Trinity United Methodist Church and was a founding member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599, Reynolds.
Mr. Nickols loved to garden.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Janice E. Weikal, whom he married Oct. 18, 1949, at home; two daughters, Mrs. William (Carole E.) Locke and Mrs. Joseph (Jackie M.) Bees; and a son, Larry B. and his wife Carol Nickols, all Transfer; three sisters, Mrs. Leroy (Mary Louise "Helen") Sample, Greenville; Mrs. Robert (Martha J.) Lester, Pearce, Ariz.; and Katherine Sprute, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey and Stephanie Locke; Matthew and Kelly Dietrich; Ben and his wife, Jennifer Nickols; Adam Nickols; Jason and his wife, Autumn Bees; and Jonathan Bees; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic Rimer and Darrion Nickols.
Mr. Nickols was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and George Nickols; and an infant son, Gary E. Nickols.

Alida M. Richards
Former Sharon woman was Buhl Hospital nurse
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Alida M. Richards, a Fort Myers resident since 1976, formerly of Sharon and Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday morning, June 15, 2002, in a Fort Myers hospital. She was 86.
Mrs. Richards was a registered nurse at the former Buhl Hospital in Sharon and at the Veterans Hospital, Washington, D.C. She retired from the Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
She was of the Lutheran faith and thoroughly enjoyed reading.
She is survived by: her husband of 61 years, Lee J. Richards; a daughter, Leah Ann Hill and her husband, George, Fort Myers; and a grandson, Curt Hill and his wife, Bonnie, Nashville, Tenn.
Other family members include: a brother, Carl Aaron Sizer and his late wife, Leona, Sharon; a sister, Helen Louise Medvin and her late husband, George, North Olmstead, Ohio; and six great-grandchildren.
