Horizon honors doctors

Four interns and three residents were honored during UPMC Horizon's annual intern and resident recognition banquet on June 7 in Oak Tree Country Club, Shenango Township.

Drs. Christopher Bellicini, Daniel Brown, Amanda Hartwell and Melissa Knarr were recognized for successfully completing the intern training program under the direction of Dr. Jerome H. Bonier. The orthopedics specialist serves as medical education director and coordinates UPMC Horizon's intern and residency programs.

Bellicini will serve an orthopedic residency at St. Joseph's Health Center in Warren, Ohio; and at UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He is an alumnus of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Brown will serve a family practice residency at Western Reserve Health Care Systems, Youngstown.

Dr. Hartwell will serve a family practice residency at UPMC Horizon, Farrell.

Dr. Knarr will serve an emergency room residency at St. Joseph's.

Brown, Dr. Hartwell and Dr. Knarr are alumni of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie.

Drs. Erik Branstetter, Bert Hepner and Armando Sciullo completed their residency programs.

Branstetter finished a general surgery residency under the direction of Dr. William Henwood. He will begin a general surgery practice at Medford (Wis.) Memorial Hospital.

Hepner finished an orthopedic residency at St. Joseph's under the direction of Dr. Michael Jurenovich, in affiliation with UPMC Horizon under the direction of Bonier. He will begin an orthopedic surgery practice at Armstrong Memorial Hospital, Kittanning, Pa.

Sciullo finished a general surgery residency under Henwood's direction. He will begin a general surgery practice at United Community Hospital, Pine Township.

Residency program directors are Drs. Aaron Listopad, family practice; William Henwood, general surgery; and Frederick G. Uberti, internal medicine.

UPMC Horizon on July 1 will welcome Drs. Allen Budek, Christopher Esper, Jean Pander, Justin Sheba and Aaron Sop as new interns to the program.

Continuing residency training at UPMC Horizon will be Drs. Brock Generalovich and Danielle Duchini in general surgery. They will be joined by first-year residents Drs. Gamal Elsaidi, Christina McGill and David Sheba.

Dr. William Woods will continue in orthopedic residency training and will be joined by first-year resident Bellicini. Dr. Terry J. McAnallen will continue a family practice residency and will be joined by first-year resident Dr. Hartwell.
