Hadley girl, 16

A Hadley teen-ager was killed Monday night in a one-vehicle crash after the car she was riding in hit a tree on Smith Road, Perry Township, police said.

Melissa A. Yeager, 16, of 364 Beatty School Road, was pronounced dead at the crash scene at 11:30 p.m. by Mercer County Deputy Coroner Cris Loutzenhiser.

Ben L. Loutzenhiser, 16, of 9 Eich Road, Fairview Township, was treated for moderate injuries at UPMC Horizon, Greenville, police said.

The crash occurred at 10:35 p.m. on Smith Road west of Loper Road, Perry Township, when the sport utility vehicle driven by Ben Loutzenhiser, which was traveling west on Smith Road, failed to negotiate a bend on a downhill grade, police said.
