Successful centennial celebration
is back this year as 'homecoming'

Last summer's successful Farrell Centennial Celebration has spawned what organizers hope will become an annual summer fair, the Farrell Homecoming.

This year's homecoming opens today and runs through Saturday on the grounds of Paulekas Stadium on the Farrell Area School District grounds.

B&J Amusements of Punxsutawney, the same ride company as last year, will have the rides and midway games open from 6 to 11 p.m. each night, and a Saturday matinee of 1 to 4 p.m.

Musical entertainment:

» Kenny Rogers impersonator Dave Millet, 7 p.m. today.

   » Peppermint Twist, 7 p.m. Thursday.

» Jazz band Brass Taxi, 7 p.m. Friday, and polka performer Rocky Chirchiglia at 9 p.m.

   » Pop band Manhattan, 7 p.m. Saturday.

Fireworks will follow the Manhattan show.

Other events Saturday include a parade up Roemer Boulevard from city hall to the school grounds at noon, and announcements of the Farrell Citizen of the Year and Junior Citizen of the Year at 2 p.m.

The citizen awards are funded by Teûd Pedas, who was given the Centurion Award at the Centennial Celebration.

Arrangements are being made to fill the open Wednesday entertainment slot.
