Police seek boxer in
alleged attack

Sharon police said they are looking for a man who assaulted another man, causing him to lose an eye.

Tine Peagler, 24, of Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, was attacked June 30 in the 400 block of North Street, police said. Peagler was punched twice in the head by Willie Frank Phillips, Jr., 34, whose last known address was 257 Florence St., Sharon, police said. Phillips, a professional boxer who has been seen on ESPN, also lives in Florida, police said.

According to a recent Herald sports story, Phillips' record was 20 wins and 2 losses with 18 knockouts prior to the televised June bout.

The attack appears to have been unprovoked, police said.

Peagler was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, where his left eye was removed, police said. Peagler was released from Allegheny General, where a hospital spokesperson would not say how long he was hospitalized.

Police said they have a warrant charging Phillips with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
