A Hermitage man who graduated from Hickory High School last month tried to mail stolen street signs from Marco Island, Fla., police say.

Aaron Jenkins, 18, told police he wanted to mail the signs to a friend in Pennsylvania. Jenkins was charged with grand theft.

Mail Boxes Etc. employees called Marco Island police after they found that a package had been crushed. An employee tried to repair it and, while doing so, found that the package contained five city street signs.
