Ministry is Power Team's top feat

The Power Team Crusade is set for 7 p.m. July 24 through 28 in Bethel Life Worship Center, 246 S. Mercer St.

"We are excited to have the Power Team in Greenville, as they are one of the top high school assemblies and have been featured on such programs as 'Walker, Texas Ranger,' " said Kent Bell of the host church. "They are a much sought-after program and are normally seen in major cities with crowds in the thousands nightly."

John Jacobs and the Power Team are a group of world-class athletes who perform exhibitions of power, strength and speed with a message of motivation and inspiration. The group has four world record-holders, including one of the strongest men in the world who can bench press 744 pounds.

"They will attract crowds of all ages with their many feats of strength including blowing up hot water bottles (like balloons), smashing walls of ice and breaking baseball bats like twigs," said Bell. "This will be an event like the community of Greenville has never seen."

For more than 20 years, the Power Team has performed in civic centers, stadium and coliseums throughout the United States as well as in 40 countries around the world. They have been featured in People magazine, The Saturday Evening Post and on ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN.

For more than 10 years, they have had their own television show called "The Power Connection," viewed by millions around the world each week.

The Power Team has performed more than 14,000 school assemblies in the last 20 years. Believing that inspiration and motivation equals academic and personal achievement, they tackle issues of drugs and alcohol, teen-age pregnancy and suicide with kids from elementary to high school.

Jacobs, leader and founder of the Power Team, encourages people to live a life of excellence, challenging them to be the best they can be.

Additional parking for the event will be available at Greenville High School, with a shuttle service being provided to the church. A suggested donation of $2 will be received at the door. Seating will be limited.
