Father, daughters arrested after beating man, police say

A father and his two daughters were arrested on assault charges Saturday night after police say they attacked a Sharon man.

Walter Coonce, 38, of 130 Fourth Ave., Sharon, and Theresa Coonce, 25, and Amanda Lee Coonce, 18, both of 514 Fullerton Place, Sharon, were arrested at 8:32 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Fullerton on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal conspiracy, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, police said.

Police said they received a report of a fight in progress on Fullerton and arrived to find about 15 people in the area. One man, John Negrea, 26, of 86 Fifth Ave., was bleeding and agitated, police said.

The Coonce sisters attacked Negrea with crescent wrenches, police said. Amanda Coonce hit Negrea in the left side of the head, and he was able to deflect a blow from Theresa Coonce, police said. Negrea fell to the ground, and Walter Coonce and another man began to hit and kick Negrea, police said.

The other man involved in the attack has not yet been charged, police said.

Negrea was treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, a hospital spokesperson said. Police said Negrea needed four staples to close wounds on his head.

During the fight Amanda Coonce broke the windshield of Negrea's car with a wrench, police said. Another car parked in the area was also damaged during the fight, police said.

Walter, Theresa and Amanda Coonce were all arraigned before District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, and taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $5,000 bond.
