Charges of selling drugs
to informant waived to court

All charges against a Farrell man accused of selling drugs to a police informant were waived to Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

Gerard Bernard Balbirsingh, 34, of 1300 Farrell Terrace, faced a preliminary hearing Thursday before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon, on two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and a charge of conspiracy to commit unlawful delivery.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the state Attorney General's Office, Balbirsingh -- also known as "G" -- delivered 27.9 grams of cocaine to a police informant on Jan. 26, 2000, and made a second delivery of 10 grams of cocaine to the informant on July 21, 2000.

One of those deals was made in a Farrell bar, Kings & Queens, 638 Lee Ave., where Balbirsingh is a manager, the complaint said.

Balbirsingh accepted a total of $1,800 in state money for the two transactions, the complaint said.

Balbirsingh was released on $50,000 bond.
