Thieves hit parking lots, make off with car stereos

Hermitage police are trying to track down whoever broke into four vehicles in four separate business parking lots Tuesday and stole stereo equipment totaling over $1,000.

Between 10:15 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. a stereo face plate valued at $300 was stolen from an unlocked car in a parking lot at 3300 Shenango Valley Freeway, police said.

A car CD/receiver valued at $250 was taken from a vehicle around 2:30 p.m. in a parking lot at 3000 Glimcher Boulevard. The windows were left down in that vehicle, police said.

A third car stereo, valued at $100, was stolen from a vehicle, which may have been unlocked, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in a North Hermitage Road parking lot , police said.

A fourth theft of a $400 stereo system occurred between 7 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. from an unlocked vehicle in a parking lot at Dutch Lane and East State Street, police said.
