Woman admits attacker was husband

A 34-year-old Sharon woman admitted to police Wednesday that the man who attacked her at 1 a.m. Aug. 1 in Buhl Farm park was actually her estranged husband, police said.

She originally told police she was sitting on a rock with her dog when a man grabbed her hair and slammed her face into a tree at the park, which closes at dusk. She described her attacker as a 6-foot-tall, thin, white or possibly light- skinned black man, with short dark hair, between 18 and 19 years old.

She then admitted she made up the description of the attacker and details of the story to protect her husband, Hermitage police said.

Police would not release the name of the woman, who drove to the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after the assault. Hospital staff treated her and reported the incident to police.

Police are investigating. No charges have been filed.
