Mario J. 'Red' Gaspari
WWII Air Force vet retired from Sharon Westinghouse

Funeral service will be Friday (8-16-02) for Mario J. "Red" Gaspari, 226 Edgewood Drive, Transfer. He died at 1:50 a.m. Aug. 14, 2002, in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. He was 82.

Mr. Gaspari was born Dec. 7, 1919, in Bonomi, Italy, to Arturo and Maria Maccagnan Gaspari.

The 1938 Sharon High School alumnus was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal and American Theater Ribbon.

Mr. Gaspari retired in 1982 after 42 years with the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he was a group leader.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Mr. Gaspari was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599, Reynolds; and Italian Home Club, Greenville.

He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing and especially gardening.

His wife, the former Florence H. Lenzi, whom he married May 10, 1951, died Jan. 15, 1988.

Surviving are: three daughters, Patricia Urey, Mercer; Rina Gaspari, Charlottesville, Va.; and Mrs. Tim (Laura) Hanke, Denver; one sister, Rita King, Florida; one brother, Bruno Gaspari, California; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Richard Carnino, 110 Fredonia Road, Greenville, died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday (8-14-02) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 87.

Ronald J. Gough

Air Force vet, Rockwell retiree was formerly of area

A funeral service will be Friday (8-16-02) for Ronald J. Gough, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., formerly of Sharon and Masury. He passed away Sunday (8-11-02) in his residence. He was 65.

He was born Sept. 9, 1936 in Sharon.

Ron was an Air Force veteran and was retired from Rockwell International. He was an avid hobbyist, building and flying model airplanes. He was a member of the A.M.A. Model Airplane Club.

Survivors include three daughters, Lori Gough, Dee Woods and Karen Gatewood, all Columbus, Ohio; three granddaughters, Denyse, Danielle and Skye; two grandsons, Devin and Noah; an aunt, Helen Harmon, Brookfield; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. John (Grace) Koosh, Clark.

He was preceded in death by his parent and one brother, Thomas "Tommy" Gough Jr.

Arnold F. Heiman

Sharon man was co-owner, president of bottling company

Arnold F. Heiman, 86, of 1753 McDowell St., Sharon, died at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday (8-14-02) in the hospital at Sharon Regional Health System. He was 86.

Mr. Heiman was born July 26, 1916, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Louis and Callie Poses Heiman.

He married Perle Feinberg on June 25, 1939. She survives.

Mr. Heiman was co-owner and president of the former Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Inc. of Sharon.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota and member of Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity, he was a member and former board member of Temple Beth Israel, Sharon; an avid golfer; a Farrell High School basketball booster and fan during the McCluskey era; a member of the former B'nai Zion Synagogue, Farrell; a former board member of what was Community Chest; a former member of B'nai Brith; and a member of Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scout.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: two sons, Ronald Heiman and his wife Deborah, Hermitage; and Rick Heiman and his wife Lynne, Haiku, Hawaii; and two grandsons, Eric and Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cyril Heiman.

Jane Wood

Active in church, retiree had worked 50-plus years

Jane Wood of R.D. 2 Shaw Road, Washington Township, Lawrence County, died at 5 a.m. today (8-15-02) in Overlook Medical Clinic, New Wilmington. She was 89.

Miss Wood was born Oct. 11, 1912, in New Castle to Harry Cooper Wood and Susan Davies.

She attended New Castle schools and worked at Shenango China for more than 50 years before retiring.

Miss Wood was an active member of Leesburg Presbyterian Church and the Search Light Bible Sunday School. She enjoyed ceramics and crocheting.

Surviving are: six nieces, Suzanne Perdue and her husband Clarence, Butler; Sandra D. Cimini, Ellwood City; Sally Cornelius and her husband Frank, Butler; Nancy DeWoody and her husband Jerry, New Wilmington; Ruth Serafini and her husband Leo, Highland, Ind.; and Shirley Marshall and her husband Roy, Dyer, Ind.; and one nephew, Thomas Wood and his wife Sandra, New Wilmington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert Wood, Thomas "Ted" Wood and Evan H. Wood.
