Pastor retires
at U.M. church
The Rev. Roy Daugherty has retired as pastor of Charleston United Methodist Church after three years of service there.
Rev. Daugherty was succeeded by Rev. Larry Rowe, who also assumed the pastorate of retiring Rev. Fay Barca at Clark Trinity United Methodist Church.
Rev. Rowe entered the pastorate after having worked as a mill clerk at Bethlehem Steel, an adjuster for Ford Motor Credit Co., and a commercial loan officer for Johnstown Bank and Trust Co.
A native of Johnstown, Pa., and graduate of Johnstown High School, he began serving as a pastor in 1985. He served eight years at Emrickville United Methodist Church, attending Pittsburgh Theological Seminary during that time, and nine years at Mount Hope United Methodist Church.
Rev. Rowe has been on short-term missions trips to Kentucky and Indiana, gone to Jamaica on a pastors' missions tour, visited the Holy Land with his family, and retraced journeys of the Apostle Paul in Greece.
