Weed and Seed police patrol
nabs suspected drug dealer

Police arrested a 25-year-old Farrell man at 12:43 a.m. Saturday after they said they found crack cocaine on him and a handgun and a box of ammunition in his car.

Charles E. Harrison III of 1333 Buhl Terrace, Farrell, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver crack-cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearms not to be carried without a license and possession of a firearm with altered manufacture's number, police said.

Officers from a Weed and Seed patrol stopped Saturday in the 900 block of Spearman Ave., Farrell to talk to Harrison, who police described as a suspected drug dealer. Harrison was parked in front of a suspected crack house, police said. When asked to show identification, Harrison opened his car's glove compartment and police noticed a box of ammunition inside, police said.

Officers shined a flashlight into the car and spotted a .45 caliber handgun, with the serial number scratched off, on the driver's side floor of the car between Harrison's legs, police said.

After Harrison was arrested, police found two bags of suspected crack cocaine on him, police said.

He was arraigned before District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, and taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $25,000 bond.
