Wolves Club Den IV gives scholarships to 8 local students

Eight local high school seniors received awards during Farrell Wolves Club Den IV's 49th annual scholarship banquet June 18 in Sharon Country Cub.

Recipients are:

   » Dana Lynn Carly, daughter of Paul and Beth Carly, earned the John McKitrick Award. The alumna of Hickory High School in Hermitage plans to attend the Shenango Campus of Pennsylvania State University in Sharon.

   » Lindsay Marie DeCarmen, daughter of Larry and Cindy DeCarmen, is a Farrell High School alumna. She plans to attend Slippery Rock University.

   » Joni Lynn Gargano, daughter of William L. and Paula A. Gargano, is a Farrell High alumna. She plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh.

   » Brett A. Goda, son of Kelly Holler and Mike Goda, is a Sharpsville High School alumnus. He plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh.

   » Carla M. Mastrian, daughter of Andrew and Tina Mastrian, is an alumna of Kennedy Catholic High School, Hermitage. She plans to attend Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

   » Luke A. Miller, son of R. Jerome and Denise Miller, is an alumnus of Kennedy Catholic. He plans to attend the Behrend College of Pennsylvania State University in Erie.

   » Andrew Whelan, son of Glenda Whelan, earned the Penn State/Protective Life award.

The Sharon High School alumnus plans to attend the Shenango Campus of Penn State.

   » Sarah L. Wright, daughter of Sharon Wright, received the Otis Whitman Award.

The Farrell High alumna plans to attend Westminster College in New Wilmington.

Joe Joseph was master of ceremonies for the evening and offered welcoming remarks.

Retired Roman Catholic Monsignor Salvatore P. Mitchell gave the invocation and benediction.

Angelo Cupani and Dr. Fred Leeds, interim chief executive officer of Penn State-Shenango, gave remarks. Steve D. Gurrera and Joseph R. Mirizio presented the awards.

Joseph and Joseph Mirizio are members of the scholarship committee; Gurrera chairs it.
