LAWRENCE COUNTY

Man accused
of kidnap, rape

A Volant-area man confined a 38-year-old woman to his home for nearly two months and repeatedly beat, raped and terrorized her, according to state police in Lawrence County.

Police said 45-year-old Wayne Frazier Brabson of Plain Grove Township confined the woman to his home from July 7 to Friday.

The woman told police that during her captivity Brabson sexually assaulted her, kicked her and beat her with a maul, and threatened to kill her and throw her body in a septic tank outside the home, police said. The woman said that when Brabson slept or left the home, he chained her to a bathroom wall, police said.

Police did not say what brought the confinement to an end. Brabson was arrested Saturday and arraigned on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated sexual assault, simple assault, making terroristic threats, kidnapping and unlawful restraint, police said. He was being held Sunday in Lawrence County Jail after failing to post $100,000 bond.

The woman was treated Saturday at Jameson Hospital in New Castle.
