Morning Herald starts Monday

Starting Monday morning, Herald readers will be able to get their news and advertising information earlier in the day.

That's when The Herald, which has been chronicling area events since 1864, switches its cycle from an afternoon to a morning publication.

Monday culminates a summer of planning for the change, which will enable The Herald to be available at vending boxes and other retail outlets and on doorsteps and in newspaper boxes during the morning hours.

Since Aug. 26, The Herald has been printed at the New Castle News. Both The Herald and New Castle News are owned by Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. of Birmingham, Ala. CNHI bought The Herald on March 29.

After the first of the year, both newspapers will be printed at a new production plant near Sampson Street about a mile from downtown New Castle. The plant, which will offer state-of-the-art printing and packaging equipment, is currently under construction.
