Open house will help Family Center mark 10th birthday
Farrell Family Center will celebrate its 10th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the John Hetra Child Development Center, 1901 Memorial Drive, Farrell.
Founded in 1992, the center was one of the first 13 of its kind in the state.
There are 48 state-funded centers in Pennsylvania.
The center has served 468 families with young children in its history.
The center offers home-based early learning programs and developmental information, and trains parents to be their children's first and best teachers.
The free and voluntary program is offered to families with children from birth to age 5 in Farrell and Wheatland.
The center has five specialists: Belinda Burrell, Bonnie King, Eileen Myers, Donna Stamoolis and Theresa Whitehead, secretary Sherlene Lightfoot and director R. Sue Goleb.
