Man tried to run down ex-wife, police say

A 43-year-old Masury man was taken to Trumbull County Jail after he tried to run over his ex-wife and her boyfriend with his truck, police said.

Eugene K. Peters, of 626 N. Stateline Road, was charged with domestic violence, attempted felonious assault and criminal damaging after he violated a restraining order by returning to his former wife's home, police said.

Police were called at 11:31 a.m. Sunday after the 32-year-old woman spotted Peters in the garage. She told police she and her 22-year-old boyfriend were leaving when Peters came out of the garage, hit her and started fighting with her boyfriend. The woman said she tried calling police on her cellular phone, but Peters hit her face so hard the battery was knocked out of her phone, police said.

Peters then got into his truck, drove into the yard and tried to run into the couple, who jumped out of the way, police said.

He got out of his truck, grabbed a shovel from the garage and broke the windows of both victims' vehicles, police said.

Peters continued the fight with the boyfriend, which came to a halt after Peters was knocked over and hit the back of his head on the steps, police said.

Shortly after Peters left, police received a call about a man who needed medical attention on King Graves Road. The man, who turned out to be Peters, was bleeding from a 3-inch cut on the back of his head, police said. He told police that his ex-wife's boyfriend started a fight with him and hit him with a metal object.

Peters was treated at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, and then taken to Trumbull County Jail. An arraignment is scheduled for today in Eastern Trumbull District Court, Brookfield.
