Tipster leads state police
to pot plants

State police in Mercer found 11 marijuana plants Wednesday in Perry Township after someone called them with an anonymous tip.

Sgt. Randy Anderson said police sent a helicopter up Wednesday after receiving word at 10:30 a.m. about a large crop of plants in a cornfield on Drew Road, Perry Township.

Police have three suspects, all from Perry Township, but no charges have been filed yet. Several of the plants were sent to a lab for testing and some are being preserved as evidence.

"We have to be sure it's what we believe it to be," he said.

Police found three of the plants in one area and eight in another, all stood about 7 feet high. Anderson said it was a small amount, adding police have to "take what they get."
