Squabble prompted stabbing, cops say

A Sharon man had his liver lacerated when he was stabbed during a fight with his girlfriend early Saturday morning, police said.

Richard Holmes, 39, of 830 Wallis Ave., was injured after his girlfriend Brandi E. Boulding, 27, also of 830 Wallis, returned home at about 3:30 a.m., argued with Holmes and then went into the kitchen and got two knives, Sharon police said Monday.

The pair struggled as Holmes tried to get the knives, police said. He managed to get one knife away from Ms. Boulding, but she stabbed him in the side with the other knife, hitting his liver, police said. Ms. Boulding also repeatedly bit Holmes, police said.

When police arrived, Ms. Boulding fought with them, had to be pepper-sprayed to be subdued and tried to kick out the window of the police car after her arrest, police said.

Holmes was taken to the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System and was discharged Monday, a hospital spokesperson said.

Ms. Boulding is charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, making terroristic threats and resisting arrest, police said.

She was arraigned before District Justice Ruth M. French, Mercer, and was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $25,000 bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon.

Sharon police did not return phone calls over the weekend by The Herald to get information about the stabbing.
