Hospital holding flu shot clinics in area

United Community Hospital, Pine Township, will host the following flu shot clinics:

   » Nov. 4 -- 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Leesburg Presbyterian Church, Springfield Township.

   » Nov. 6 -- 9 to 10 a.m. in United Methodist Church, Harrisville; and 10:30 a.m. to noon in United Community Hospital Outpatient Services, 621 Kelly Blvd., Slippery Rock.

   » Nov. 7 -- 8:30 to 11 a.m. in Grove City Rescue Squad.

   » Nov. 9 -- 9 a.m. to noon in UCH's Conference Rooms C and D.

   » Nov. 13 -- 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Brandy Springs Park, Mercer.

   » Nov. 14 -- 5 to 7 p.m. in UCH's Conference Rooms C and D.

   » Nov. 21 -- 9 a.m. to noon in McQuiston Center by the Park in Sandy Lake.

The hospital will file insurance claims for those 65 and older who have Medicare Part B or Security Blue benefits. Participants must provide their Medicare of Security Blue card.

Those between 55 and 65, or those 65 or older who do not have Medicare Part B, can receive the shot for $16. Senior Awareness members not covered will receive a shot for $15.

Participants should wear short sleeves. Those who have had Guillian-Barre Syndrome; past allergic reaction to the vaccine; or an allergy to Gentamycin, eggs, chicken feathers or chicken dander should not receive the shot. Those with a temperature of 99.6 or higher or who have received another type of vaccine within the past 14 days also should not be vaccinated.
