A Farrell man who has been on the lam since Sept. 30 when police said he assaulted a woman in Sharon was caught Wednesday afternoon in Farrell.
Charles D. Norris, 29, of 1225 Roemer Blvd., was arrested at 3:48 p.m. at a home in the 700 block of Wallis Avenue, Southwest Mercer County Regional police said. Police went to the home after Mercer County 911 received an anonymous tip that Norris was there.
Norris barricaded himself in an upstairs bedroom, police said. After several minutes he gave up and came out of the room with his hands up, police said.
Sharon police had a warrant for Norris after he went into a home in the 300 block of Quinby Street and went inside though the owner told him to leave. Norris punched Crystal Bailey, 24, of 805 Ravine Place, Sharon, in the chin, splitting it open, police said.
Norris then grabbed hot cooking grease and threw it on Ms. Bailey, causing second- and third-degree burns, police said. She was treated at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.
Norris ran from the home before police arrived, and police had been looking for him since.
Norris was arraigned before District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, on charges of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and retaliation against a witness or victim. He was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $100,000 bond.
