Lori Gill
replaces
Timmerman
on board

Lori Gill will fill a seat on Sharpsville Area School Board vacated by Robert Timmerman, who started a new job in Florida.

Mrs. Gill, 43, of Mercer Avenue, Sharpsville, was chosen Wednesday from among four applicants.

"I care about what's going on with the children in the district," Mrs. Gill said.

Though she hasn't run in previous elections, she said she's been attending school board meetings. When she learned there was an opening, "I decided to put my name in and see where things fell."

Mrs. Gill said she has no particular agenda but wants to learn about what's going on in the district and make decisions from there.

Though it is only a one-year term, Mrs. Gill said she plans to run in the next election.

The school board accepted Timmerman's resignation in September. He served 10 years on the board and served as its president.

The board interviewed each candidate separately, asking each the same questions and giving them 22 minutes to complete the interview, said Superintendent Dr. Derry Stufft.

The other three applicants were Gerald Hanley, Mike Munger and Harriet Serbis.
