Charges against a Shenango Township man accused of attacking his ex-wife headed to Mercer County Common Pleas Court Friday and he headed back to jail.
Gregory Adams, 44, of 372 Sharon-Bedford Road, stipulated at a preliminary hearing before District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, that police have enough evidence against him for his case to proceed to the county level.
According to police, Adams attacked his ex-wife on Sept. 3 and again Sept. 22.
On Sept. 3, Shenango Township police said, he pushed his ex-wife across her kitchen and into a stand, choked her and held a knife to her throat. He also pushed her part way down a flight of stairs, kicked her several times and slammed her head into a wall, police said.
On Sept. 22, police said, Adams pushed and hit the woman and held a steak knife to her throat until she turned over the keys to her car.
Adams is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, reckless endangerment, theft and making terroristic threats in connection with the Sept. 22 attack, and aggravated and simple assault and making terroristic threats for the Sept. 3 incident.
Adams was returned to jail after failing to post a total of $30,000 bond for the two cases.
Assistant District Attorney Robert G. Kochems said it could be six to eight weeks before Adams is arraigned in county court.
Adams is represented by William M. Panella of New Castle.
