HAUNTED HAPPENINGS

   » Mercer Rotary Club will have a Halloween Oldies Dance from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Brandy Springs Community Center, state Route 158, south of Mercer.

DJs Jim Bickel and Tony C. will spin the tunes. Costumes are optional, but cash prizes will be awarded for various categories.

Tickets are $10 per person and $20 per couple in advance, and $15 per person and $25 per couple at the door. Tickets are available from Mercer Rotary members, Mercer's National City Bank and Mercer Mercantile and Soda Shoppe. Munchies and mixers are included. Additional food will be available to purchase. Proceeds benefit Brandy Springs baseball and softball facilities.

   » Haunted Train Express will chug along through Saturday on the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad between Oil City and Titusville in Venango and Crawford counties. Information: (800) 348-9393.

   » The Old Stone House will be the site of a family-oriented ghost story tour from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Every room throughout the house will provide different ghostly tales. Stories will be presented by Slippery Rock University staff and students, as well as local community members.

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

The Old Stone House is located in northern Butler County at the intersections of routes 8, 528 and 173, 12 miles north of Butler. Information: (724) 738-2408.

   » Hartford Optimist Club will hold their annual haunted hayride Friday and Saturday at Storyland.

The non-haunted hayride for the little ones runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the haunted hayride is from 7:30 to 11 p.m.

Admission is $3 per person for the haunted hayride and $2 per person for the non-haunted ride.

There is a bonfire where you can cook your own hot dog and other refreshments are available as well.

Storyland is located three miles north of Hartford Center on state Route 7 in Burghill, Ohio. Information: (330) 772-8733.
