Writers will be on hand
at Book Quest

Books, writers, music and crafts will all be part of Book Quest this weekend.

The Writer's Roundtable of Mercer will host the community book fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Greenville High School gymnasium.

Local writers participating in Book Quest include Evelyn Minshull of Mercer, Audrey Stallsmith of Sheakleyville, Gloria Clover of Hadley, Florence Biros of New Wilmington, Andy Stallsmith of Sheakleyville, Norman Dunkle of Sheakleyville and Bob Woodley of Greenville.

"The whole goal is to promote writing and reading for kids and to try to encourage creativity and interest in the written word," said Ms. Clover, a member of the Writer's Roundtable.

"This is an opportunity for people to see what's put between the covers," said Ms. Biros, another member of the Roundtable.

Poets, children's authors and authors of "E-books" will be on hand to sign autographs and speak about their work.

There will also be a puppet show, costumed characters, music and crafts. A book will be given away as a door prize every 15 minutes.

A booklet featuring area elementary students' writing submissions will be for sale at the fair.

Lunch will be available in the cafeteria.

Admission is free for students and $1 for adults.

Some proceeds will benefit the Greenville Area Public Library.
