Weed and Seed patrols log 244 hours, assist local cops, liquor control agents

Police made 244 hours of Weed and Seed special details in September in Farrell and Sharon, said law enforcement coordinator Robert Kochems, a Mercer County assistant district attorney.

Patrols made 24 traffic stops and issued six summary citations.

Police assisted other departments 23 times, including helping liquor control agents in a license-check operation that resulted in four underage drinking arrests, and executing two search warrants, one of which led to four arrests on drug charges.

Weed and Seed police also served eight warrants and made 33 citizen contacts, which included foot patrols, bar walk-throughs and private club visits.
