Representatives of Farrell Area School Board and the Farrell Teachers Association met Thursday, but were unable to reach a contract agreement, said James Nevant II, chief negotiator for the board.

The discussion was "positive and productive," Nevant said.

The 95-member teachers union has been working under an extension of the old five-year pact since the contract expired June 30.

Nevant said he believed the next meeting was set for Nov. 21.
