A couple walking on Broadway Avenue in Masury were hit by at least one car at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, Brookfield police said.

The couple, who may be in their mid-30s, were badly hurt, said Brookfield Police Chief Dan Faustino. He said that one or both of them was hit by a car in the westbound lane of U.S. Route 62, and the impact forced them into the path of other vehicles. Faustino said the couple may have been hit by at least three other vehicles.

Both were taken to local hospitals, but police said the woman may have been flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment.

The investigation will be turned over to the Ohio Highway Patrol, police said.
