Hunting is permitted on all federal government lands except for restricted areas, developed recreation areas and posted areas.

These include Shenango, Mahaney and Clark recreation areas; areas adjacent to the dam and outflow; Chestnut Run Swim Beach; RC's Marina; Bayview Off-Road Vehicle Area; and YMCA Campground.

Entrance to the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Waterfowl Propagation Area, West Lake Road, is prohibited for all activities. All Pennsylvania Game Commission hunting regulations apply on government land, including safety zones. Care should be used near access areas located around the lake.
