Sister formerly
of Farrell serving in post in Rome

A former Farrell woman is serving as a member of the General Administration of her congregation for five years in Rome.

Sister Jeanne Marie Ulica, a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis, was elected in the summer of 2001. She was unable to relocate to Rome then because of her duties as principal of the community's school in San Antonio. She commuted between San Antonio, the Motherhouse in Pittsburgh and Rome to fulfill her responsibilities.

She took up residency at the order's Generalate in Rome in October.

A daughter of Margaret Ulica, Farrell, and the late Joseph Ulica is a former member of St. Ann Church in Farrell and attended the parish's grade school. She graduated in 1958 from Farrell High School and entered the religious community in the fall of the same year.

Since professing her first vows in 1960, Sister Jeanne Marie has taught elementary, middle and high school.

She has served as a member of the community's Formation Team and also served four terms as a Provincial Councilor of the Pittsburgh Province.

Her position in Rome will include visits to members of their congregation in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, India, South Africa, Central Asia, Chile and the United States.
