Sharon auditor hired
as school business manager

A Sharon man who has audited Farrell Area School District's books has been hired as the district's business manager.

Michael H. Stabile, 20, of 150 Flowers Ave., was hired by the school board Monday.

Stabile has been an auditor with McGill, Power, Bell & Associates LLP, the district's auditing firm, since November 1997.

"He knows a lot about the school district," said Superintendent Richard R. Rubano Jr. "I'm looking forward to working with him."

Stabile, who replaces retired Business Administrator Ronald Pendel, earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from St. Francis College, Loretto, Pa., and previously worked for the Bair Foundation, New Wilmington.

Stabile's experience includes preparing monthly financial statements, analyzing investments, preparing corporate and individual tax returns, and auditing for-profit and nonprofit organizations, Rubano said.

Stabile will start Jan. 2 and be paid a salary of $48,000.

The board has revamped the job description for the position. Stabile will have less oversight of the maintenance of the buildings, but will be more involved in training, food service and financial planning, Rubano said.

Also, Stabile probably will be school board secretary, although the superintendent's secretary, Judi Pendel, still will take minutes at meetings, Rubano said.
