School board,
union set
contract votes

Farrell Teachers Association and Farrell Area School Board will vote Monday on a new contract.

Negotiators reached tentative agreement Nov. 26.

"It's my understanding they are going to vote Monday afternoon," district solicitor and the board's chief negotiator James Nevant II said of the union.

"That's why we have scheduled a special (board) meeting at 5:30. We're assuming that we'll know how they voted by then."

The board meeting will be held in the board conference room at the district office.

The 95-member union has been working under an extension of the old five-year contract since it ended June 30. Talks began in January.
