Accused embezzler faces pretrial hearing Feb. 11

A 35-year-old Brookfield accountant accused of embezzling more than $650,000 from his former employers will face another pretrial hearing Feb. 11 in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Assistant Prosecutor Chuck Morrow said evidence found on computers that were seized from Robert "R.P." Mild's home and office is being examined by forensic scientists. Documents relevant to the case will be produced at the next pretrial hearing, he said.

Trumbull County Judge Andrew Logan said the prosecution must sift through the mountains of evidence being held at the sheriff's office and return documents it deems to be irrelevant to the case against Mild at the next pretrial hearing.

Mild, 7090 Stewart-Sharon Road, is accused of embezzling money from Kirila Contractors Inc. of Brookfield and its owners William and Ronald Kirila between July 1999 and Aug. 2. Mild was fired Aug. 25 for unrelated reasons. He had worked as Kirila's chief financial officer for 10 years.
