Steam leak briefly clears middle school

A steam leak in a boiler at Brookfield Middle School led to an evacuation of students, but caused no major damage.

A boiler split, causing the leak, at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and set off the fire alarm, said Brookfield Fire Chief Keith Barrett.

Students were sent across the parking lot to the high school, but returned about 15 minutes later, he said.
