Dump-truck driver charged
in accident that KO'd power

An Ohio man has been charged in connection with a dump-truck accident last week.

Hermitage police said Albert Kinkade , 67, of North Jackson, was driving the tri-axle truck Friday with the bed extended. The bed got snared on phone cable and pulled down three utility poles, forcing the closing of Highland Road from state Route 18 to Dutch Lane.

Kinkade was charged with careless driving and with driving a vehicle too tall for the roadway.

The accident knocked out the Highland Road power circuit, affecting medical offices in the area. Telephone and cable services were not affected.

According to police, Kinkade pushed the button to lower the bed before leaving a construction site, but the bed did not lower.

Kinkade is a driver for Bob Energy Services Inc., of Youngstown.
