A man who gave a Sharon address was one of seven convicted Thanksgiving week on drug charges, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward F. Feran.
Jesus C. Morel, 39, who gave a nonexistent address of 387 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon; Marlan B. Everson, 31, of Youngstown; Marino J. Diaz, 37, of Bronx, N.Y.; Giovanny H. Medina, 30, of Bronx, N.Y.; Luis M. Valdez, 32, of Brentwood, N.Y.; and Gino Francisco-Almonte, 30, of New York, pleaded guilty Nov. 25 to cocaine trafficking, Feran said.
Juan Valdez-Reyes, 26, of the Bronx, was found guilty by a jury Nov. 27 to conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, Feran said.
Pre-sentencing investigations are being conducted and no sentencing dates have been set, Feran said.
While Valdez-Reyes could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, the others are facing 4 to 7 years, he said.
The first arrest was made June 3 when investigators raided two Youngstown homes where Everson stayed. Police said they found heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine and guns at the homes.
Everson told officials he had received cocaine from three Dominican Republic natives living in New York numerous times, the latest a day earlier, when 3è kilograms -- about 7è pounds -- were delivered.
One of the men was Morel, the complaint said. Everson arranged a cocaine buy with Morel, and Morel was arrested when he showed up at Potomac, police said.
Diaz was with Morel, also known as Jesus Morel-Paredes, in a sport-utility vehicle, but drove away while police arrested Morel.
Diaz was stopped and arrested soon after and gave consent to search the SUV. In a compartment with a hydraulic door under the rear passenger set, 33 grams of cocaine -- about an ounce -- were found, the complaint said.
With Everson's help, authorities set up sting operations in which the others were arrested in Liberty, Ohio, and more drugs were found in their vehicles.
Morel stayed at motels in the Shenango Valley when he was in town to distribute cocaine, officials said.
